Travelling

Situated in the middle of Norway, only 500 km north of Oslo, Trondheim is easily accessible no matter where you come from.

The main road through Norway, E6, passes through Trondheim, making access by car easy from south, north and east.

Trondheim’s Airport, Værnes, is no more than 30 km away from the city centre. In addition to frequent domestic arrivals from both Northern and Southern Norway, there are also direct flights to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London (Stansted), Prague, Murcia, Alicante, Dubrovnik and Salzburg.

For booking, please visit Avinor’s webpage, or the websites of the various flight companies.

Do you prefer to travel by train? Norwegian State Railways, NSB, has trains from Bodø in the north to Kristiansand in the south. There are also trains from Sweden, please consult SJ's web.

If you’d rather travel along the coast, you may experience “the world’s most beautiful voyage” on Hurtigruten (The Coastal Steamer). The ship goes along the coast from Bergen in the south to Kirkenes in the north, and offers an amazing opportunity to experience the Norwegian coast from the sea. Whether you wish to travel during summer or winter – both the north- and southbound coastal Steamer departs Trondheim every day all year round.
